Kia’s seven-seat PV5 Passenger has become eligible for the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant, reducing the starting price of the all-electric people carrier to £35,495. The move makes the seven-seat version just £800 more expensive than the equivalent five-seat model, giving families and businesses another option when considering electric vehicle leasing for passenger transport.
The grant applies across the range, including the Essential, Plus and flagship Elite specifications. With prices starting below £36,000, the PV5 Passenger could also appeal to operators providing airport transfers, shuttle services and other forms of passenger transport. The scheme has already supported significant demand, with more than 140,000 new electric cars purchased using the Government grant during its first year.

Kia PV5 Passenger Prices And Electric Range
The entry-level Essential starts at £35,495 on the road, with the Plus priced at £38,775 and the Elite at £40,475 following the grant.
Every seven-seat version of the Kia PV5 Passenger is equipped with Kia’s larger 71.2kWh battery, which is paired with a standard-fit heat pump. Kia quotes an electric driving range of up to 246 miles on the WLTP combined cycle, although the final distance achieved will depend on factors including driving style, weather, passenger loads and the use of heating or air conditioning.
The battery supports DC rapid charging at up to 150kW, allowing a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes under suitable conditions. Power comes from a single front-mounted electric motor producing 161bhp, while vehicle-to-load functionality allows the vehicle’s battery to supply power to compatible external equipment. The continued expansion of public charging networks is also helping make electric vehicles more practical for businesses, with EV charging infrastructure growing faster than electric vehicle sales across Europe according to recent research.
Investment in ultra-fast charging is also continuing, with BYD planning to introduce 300 Flash Chargers across the UK, highlighting the industry’s efforts to reduce charging times and improve convenience for electric vehicle drivers.

Seven Seats And Practical Interior Design
Based on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP.S platform, the PV5 Passenger has been designed to combine the practicality of an MPV with the characteristics of an electric vehicle.
Its three-row cabin features a 2-2-3 seating arrangement, with dual sliding side doors providing access to the rear passenger area. A step-in height of just 399mm is intended to make getting in and out easier, particularly for passengers using the second and third rows. Luggage capacity measures 350 litres with all seven seats in place. Folding the second and third rows increases the available space to as much as 3,430 litres, giving owners greater flexibility when carrying luggage, equipment or larger items.
Kia quotes up to 1,041mm of front-row legroom, 977mm in the second row and 970mm in the third. Headroom exceeds one metre throughout the cabin, helping to accommodate passengers across all three rows.

New Equipment For The 2027 Model Year
The latest PV5 Passenger updates include a flatter roof antenna, keeping the vehicle’s overall height below 1.9 metres, which could prove useful when accessing multi-storey car parks with height restrictions. The cabin also gains a redesigned armrest with height adjustment.
The new Elite specification sits at the top of the range and introduces additional equipment, including electric sliding doors, dual-tone faux-leather upholstery across all three rows and ventilation for the front seats. Further additions include a Surround View camera system, side parking sensors and premium paint as standard.
These changes provide buyers with a wider choice of comfort and convenience features, depending on the specification selected.
Kia PV5 Cargo Also Receives Updates
The model-year changes extend to Kia’s PV5 Cargo electric van range, with prices starting at £27,355 plus VAT. The model is also gaining traction in the UK, with the Kia PV5 becoming the country’s best-selling electric van. Cargo versions now feature a three-seat bench as standard, while a two-seat configuration remains available as a no-cost alternative.
The updated bench incorporates an adjustable-height armrest and adjustable lumbar support, while the van also gains a new composite bulkhead.
Both PV5 Passenger and Cargo models are available to order through Kia PBV Centres across the UK. Businesses requiring a specialist commercial vehicle can also consider the Kia PV5 Chassis Cab, which provides a base for a range of professional conversions.
Kia is also expanding its purpose-built vehicle range, with the larger Kia PV7 electric van and Kia PV7 Passenger set to broaden its options for commercial operators and passenger transport businesses.
