The new Mitsubishi L200 Series 7 Commercial has arrived in the UK, offering businesses a two-seat pickup designed to retain the L200’s working capability while qualifying for commercial vehicle tax treatment.
Mitsubishi has added the new L200 Series 7 Commercial to its UK range, following the return of the Mitsubishi L200 to the UK and the launch of the latest double-cab versions earlier this year.
The key difference is inside the cabin. Rather than retaining the rear seats found in the standard double-cab L200, the Commercial version has been permanently converted into a two-seat vehicle. Mitsubishi says the dedicated conversion gives the vehicle full commercial vehicle status, allowing eligible business users to benefit from the associated tax treatment.
L200 Commercial Designed Around Business Use
The conversion removes the rear seats and seatbelts, with a perforated steel bulkhead installed directly behind the two front seats. Behind this is a phenolic load floor with four integrated D-ring restraints, creating additional space for equipment, tools and other business cargo.
The rear doors remain in place and are fitted with privacy glass, giving the L200 Commercial the appearance and practicality of a four-door pickup while providing a dedicated load area behind the cabin.
The conversion is particularly relevant following changes to the UK tax treatment of double-cab pickups introduced in April 2025, which can see standard double-cab pickups treated as cars for tax purposes depending on the circumstances. For eligible businesses, the L200 Series 7 Commercial is VAT reclaimable and retains 100% capital allowance eligibility, while commercial vehicle road tax is £360 per year. Mitsubishi currently lists a flat-rate Benefit-in-Kind charge of £4,170 for the 2026/27 tax year.
More Than One Tonne Of Payload
Despite the cabin conversion, Mitsubishi says the L200 Commercial retains the load-carrying capability expected from the Series 7 pickup.
The Titan Commercial has a maximum payload of 1,092kg, while the higher-specification Barbarian Commercial can carry up to 1,025kg. Both versions also have an 80kg roof load capacity.
The load bed measures 1,555mm long, 1,545mm wide and 526mm deep, providing enough room for a standard 1,200 x 800mm Euro pallet.
Load securing points are also incorporated into the bed, allowing businesses to secure tools, materials and other equipment when travelling between jobs.
3,500kg Towing Capacity
The L200 Commercial uses the same 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel engine as the latest passenger double-cab models.
It produces 204hp and 470Nm of torque, with a six-speed automatic transmission fitted as standard.
The Titan Commercial uses a part-time four-wheel-drive system, while the Barbarian Commercial is equipped with Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system. Both versions feature the same seven selectable driving modes, allowing the L200 to be adapted to different road and off-road conditions. The Barbarian Commercial is equipped with Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD II system, including a torque-sensing locking centre differential. One of its key advantages is the ability to use full-time four-wheel drive on tarmac as well as off-road, which can be particularly useful for businesses that regularly tow or operate across challenging terrain.
Maximum towing capacity is 3,500kg, giving the L200 Commercial the ability to handle substantial trailers alongside its own payload.
Two L200 Commercial Specifications
Mitsubishi is offering the new commercial version in two specifications: Titan Commercial and Barbarian Commercial.
The Titan provides the lower-cost entry point into the range while still offering the core working capabilities of the L200 Series 7.
The Barbarian sits above it as the more premium option, adding higher levels of equipment while retaining the two-seat commercial configuration and associated business-focused benefits.
