Vauxhall is introducing a new Vauxhall Astra GSE Line trim level in 2027, bringing the styling of its performance-focused GSE models to the popular family hatchback and Sports Tourer estate.
The new trim will replace the current GS specification and is due to arrive in the UK in Spring 2027. It will be available across the Astra’s range of powertrains, including fully electric, plug-in hybrid, hybrid and petrol versions.
The Astra GSE Line will make its public debut at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, where Vauxhall is also expected to provide further information about plans to introduce the GSE Line treatment to other models in its range.
Importantly, the GSE Line is primarily a styling and equipment specification rather than a performance upgrade. While it takes inspiration from the more powerful Mokka GSE and Corsa GSE, the standard Astra GSE Line does not receive the performance enhancements associated with those models.
A Sportier Look For The Astra
The biggest changes introduced with the GSE Line are visual.
Vauxhall has given the Astra a number of exterior design features intended to give it a more dynamic appearance, including specific front bumper inserts positioned below the Vauxhall Vizor and distinctive GSE LINE lettering.
The new trim will also come with 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels as standard, giving the Astra a more distinctive appearance than the outgoing GS specification.
The approach means customers who like the appearance of Vauxhall’s performance models can choose a sportier-looking Astra without having to move to a dedicated high-performance vehicle.
Yellow Details Inside The Cabin
The GSE theme continues inside the Astra.
Bright yellow stitching is used throughout the cabin, appearing on the seats, steering wheel, door inserts and centre armrest. The interior also receives aluminium sport pedals as part of the new specification.
Optional sports seats with integrated headrests will also be available on plug-in hybrid, hybrid and petrol versions, although Vauxhall says final availability is subject to confirmation for individual markets.
The result is a more distinctive interior without changing the Astra’s underlying focus on everyday practicality.
GSE Line Will Be Available With Multiple Powertrains
One of the more significant aspects of the new trim is that customers will not be restricted to a single type of engine or powertrain.
The Astra GSE Line will be offered with:
- Fully electric power
- Plug-in hybrid power
- Hybrid power
- Petrol power
This gives the GSE Line a considerably broader appeal than a conventional performance derivative.
For customers who want the sportier styling but are looking to move to an electric or electrified vehicle, the availability of the GSE Line across several powertrain options means the choice of trim does not necessarily dictate how the car is powered.
Existing GS Equipment Carries Across
The new GSE Line will retain the equipment already associated with the outgoing GS trim, while adding its own styling features.
Existing equipment includes dual-zone air conditioning, ambient lighting, a reversing camera and adaptive cruise control, giving the new trim a strong level of standard equipment.
The combination of existing GS equipment with the new exterior and interior treatment means the GSE Line effectively takes over the role previously occupied by GS as the sportier-looking mainstream Astra specification.
A 280PS Astra Is Also Coming
Vauxhall has also confirmed plans for a more powerful Astra variant later in 2027.
The new model is expected to produce approximately 280PS, although the manufacturer has not yet released full technical details.
This version should be distinguished from the standard GSE Line. The GSE Line itself is focused on performance-inspired styling, whereas the forthcoming 280PS model is expected to bring a genuine increase in performance.

Astra Hatchback And Sports Tourer
The GSE Line will initially be introduced on both versions of the Astra.
That means customers will be able to choose between the conventional Astra hatchback and the larger Astra Sports Tourer estate, while retaining the same GSE-inspired styling theme.
The Sports Tourer is particularly relevant to buyers who want a more practical family car, with its estate body providing additional luggage space while retaining the Astra’s passenger-car driving characteristics.
Offering the trim on both body styles also gives customers considering car leasing more flexibility when choosing a vehicle around their day-to-day requirements.
More Vauxhall Models To Follow
The Astra will not be the only Vauxhall model to receive the new GSE Line treatment.
Vauxhall has confirmed that the specification will eventually be introduced across additional models, although details of which vehicles will receive it have not yet been announced.
The move follows the introduction of the Mokka GSE and Corsa GSE, which bring the GSE name to Vauxhall’s performance-oriented models.
Rather than limiting the design language to its fastest cars, Vauxhall is now using the GSE identity to create a sportier visual option across a wider part of its range.
When Will The Vauxhall Astra GSE Line Be Available?
The Vauxhall Astra GSE Line and Astra Sports Tourer GSE Line are scheduled to go on sale in Spring 2027.
