Single cab pickups are classified as vans for tax purposes, while the regulations for double cab pick-ups differ. As of 2024, double cab pick-ups that have a payload of over 1000kg are categorised as light commercial vehicles and taxed as vans. However, starting April 2025, double cab pickup trucks with a payload of one tonne or more will be treated as cars for capital allowances, benefits in kind (BIK), and some deductions from business profits. The majority of double cab pick-up trucks have a payload capacity exceeding one tonne. The Volkswagen Amarok can carry payloads of up to 1,100 kg, closely followed by the popular Ford Ranger with a payload of up to 1,067 kg, and the Toyota Hilux which is capable of hauling up to 1,025 kg. Meanwhile, the newly introduced to the UK market KGM / Ssangyong Musso has a payload of up to 1,105 kg in a standard model while the longer version offers a whooping 1,205kg payload capacity. Finally, the electric Maxus T90 EV can carry loads of up to one tonne.

The Nissan Navara has been discontinued in the UK, with the last models sold in early 2022. Nissan stopped production at its Barcelona factory and decided to withdraw the model from the European market; meaning no new Navaras are available for purchase in the UK.

Another option to consider when you're looking to lease pickup truck is Finance Lease, which operates similarly to BCH. The key difference is that instead of returning the vehicle, you would need to sell it and utilise the proceeds to settle the final payment. The Finance Lease includes road tax for the first year of the agreement. It's worth adding that because of the larger final payment, the monthly payments required for Finance Lease are generally lower compared to those for BCH.
