What is a tipper/cage tipper?
Tipper offers the flexibility to transport a range of bulk and other loads, with the ability to tip bulk loads from the rear of the vehicle, or sides of the vehicle depending on the type of van. We have a range of tipper vans available for commercial lease and contract hire. It's an essential tool in the light construction and horticultural sectors. Tipper is usually loaded from overhead hoppers or manually. At the destination, the back is tipped to discharge the load. The body of the vehicle is pivoted at the back.
In addition to the tipper, a cage body is normally found on light commercial vehicle chassis for transporting loose cargo, often household items (i.e house clearance) and recycling collected from doorsteps. Less common are cage bodies on articulated trailers used for transport of larger items such as plastic water and gas main pipes.
Most common uses
Tippers are widely used in many sectors, the most common being:
- construction
- building and building supplies
- landscape and gardening
- scrap metal recovery
