After Ford's earlier release of the new look Ford Transit Custom
and an update to their smaller Courier
models, Ford has just announced the long-awaited update of the larger Ford Transit range to include a new look to fall in-line with other models in the Ford lineup, up-to-date driving aids and the latest Ford telematics technology.
The new Ford Transit, available in mid-2019 has the latest front grille as seen on the latest Ford Transit Custom and the top-spec models will include chrome trim, xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights.
Ford has updated the 2.0 EcoBlue diesel offering better efficiency with power units ranging from 104bhp to a new 182bhp version, all with stop-start and electric power steering to improve efficiency. A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, however, from 2020 a 10-speed auto will be available on RWD Transits.
Fleet operators will enjoy the latest technology updates with Ford PassConnect, allowing fleet managers to manage their vehicles incorporating MyKey, allowing fleet managers to set certain restrictions such as speed limiters, radio volume and more.
What else is included in the new Ford Transit?
Other features to be included in the new model will be active park assist and lane keep assist, a drive mode selector will be offered on the Transit (4x4 model only) aimed at optimising the van for different driving conditions. Adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition and pedestrian detection are all available alongside a blind spot warning system including a trailer setting and front and rear cameras are included as additional options as well.
Businesses will enjoy the increased payload over the current Ford Transit
model, as Ford have added a new aluminium bonnet, new steel construction, trimmed-down exhaust and replaced some steel parts with composite materials contributing to an overall weight saving for the new van.
