Jaguar has officially unveiled the Type 01, the first production model from the next chapter of its all-electric transformation.
The new Type 01 is a luxury four-door electric GT designed to combine long-distance touring capability with high-performance driving, while also giving Jaguar a new flagship model for the premium company-car market.
Designed, engineered and built in the UK, the Type 01 introduces Jaguar’s new dedicated electric architecture, alongside an 850-volt electrical system designed to support rapid charging. Jaguar is expected to begin taking orders in early 2027, with customer deliveries scheduled to follow during the second half of the year.
The unveiling gives a much clearer picture of what Jaguar’s new direction will look like in production form, with the Type 01 combining a substantial battery, rapid charging technology, four-wheel drive and a powerful tri-motor drivetrain.
Jaguar’s new electric direction has been taking shape for some time, with the Type 01 having been previewed during its development before now reaching its official production unveiling. Our earlier look at the new Jaguar Type 01 explored the thinking behind Jaguar’s dramatic move into a new era of electric performance.

A New Electric Flagship For Jaguar
The Type 01 represents a significant step for Jaguar as the manufacturer moves towards an all-electric model range.
Rather than simply replacing an existing combustion-engined model with an electric equivalent, Jaguar has developed the Type 01 as a completely new flagship. Its four-door GT layout is intended to provide the performance expected from a Jaguar while retaining the comfort and refinement needed for long-distance journeys.
The car will also sit within an increasingly competitive part of the company-car market, where premium electric vehicles are becoming more capable and increasingly attractive to higher-mileage drivers.
For Jaguar, the Type 01 therefore needs to do more than provide zero-emission motoring. It has to demonstrate that its new generation of electric vehicles can compete on range, charging speed, performance and luxury.

Up To 450 Miles Of Electric Range
One of the most significant aspects of the Type 01 is its battery and claimed driving range.
Jaguar has equipped the car with a 118kWh usable battery, with a maximum WLTP range of up to 450 miles.
That figure puts long-distance usability firmly at the centre of the Type 01’s appeal. Jaguar also says the car can achieve up to 320 miles when travelling at sustained motorway speeds, which will be particularly relevant to company-car drivers who regularly cover significant distances.
For drivers who spend much of their working week travelling between customers, offices and business sites, motorway range can be more useful than a headline WLTP figure. The Type 01 has clearly been engineered with this type of journey in mind.

Rapid Charging Is A Major Part Of The Package
The Type 01’s electric architecture has also been designed to minimise charging downtime.
Its 850-volt electrical system supports DC rapid charging at up to 350kW. Jaguar says that under suitable conditions, drivers can add as much as 200 miles of range in approximately 13 minutes.
A 10-80% charge is expected to take around 22 minutes.
The vehicle can also make use of 400-volt charging infrastructure, with charging speeds of up to 250kW available when using compatible public charging equipment.
This could make the Type 01 particularly interesting for drivers who use rapid-charging networks regularly. Rather than treating charging as a lengthy interruption to a journey, Jaguar is positioning the car around short charging stops during longer trips. For businesses and company-car drivers considering an electric vehicle, understanding the different charging options and how charging works in practice is becoming increasingly important.
For charging away from the public network, the Type 01 will feature a 22kW AC onboard charger. It also has an AC charging connection on both sides of the vehicle, giving drivers greater flexibility depending on where the car is parked.
Jaguar is also planning a connected home charging solution alongside an app that will allow owners to manage charging remotely.
Over 1,000PS From Three Electric Motors
The Type 01 is not intended to be a conventional executive electric car.
Jaguar has equipped the flagship with a tri-motor electric powertrain producing up to 1,030PS and 1,365Nm of torque.
That gives the Type 01 performance figures more commonly associated with dedicated performance cars than a large luxury GT. Jaguar quotes a 0-62mph time of just 3.2 seconds.
The powertrain also provides all-wheel drive, with torque distribution managed electronically to help balance performance and traction.
Despite its outright performance, Jaguar says the Type 01 has been engineered to remain suitable for comfortable long-distance driving.
Designed For Long-Distance Driving
Underneath the Type 01 is a sophisticated chassis designed to balance handling with refinement.
Air suspension and active dampers are combined with all-wheel steering and intelligent torque vectoring. The car also has a claimed 50:50 weight distribution.
Drivers will be able to select from Jaguar, Dynamic, Efficient and Ice & Snow driving modes, while a configurable Curated mode allows aspects of the vehicle’s behaviour to be tailored to individual preferences.
This is an important part of Jaguar’s positioning for the Type 01. While the headline performance figures are impressive, the car is intended to be a grand tourer rather than simply a high-powered electric sports car.

Aerodynamics Have Been Prioritised
Range is not determined by battery capacity alone, and Jaguar has paid considerable attention to the Type 01’s aerodynamic performance.
The manufacturer says the new model is its most aerodynamic production Jaguar to date, with a drag coefficient of 0.23Cd.
Active aerodynamic features include front air vanes and a deployable rear spoiler, while airflow around the body has been carefully managed to reduce resistance.
Jaguar has also developed battery and thermal management systems intended to maintain consistent performance and charging capability across a wide range of temperatures.
For an electric vehicle designed to cover long distances, these systems can be just as important as battery size when it comes to real-world usability.

A Technology-Focused Interior
The Type 01 continues Jaguar’s new approach inside the cabin.
It is configured as a four-seat GT, with a central spine running through the interior and separating the individual seating areas.
The specification is focused heavily on comfort, with heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, alongside heated and ventilated rear seats.
Other premium features include a panoramic glass roof, air purification, fragrance diffusion and a 38-speaker Meridian audio system.
The technology extends to the driver’s displays and connectivity. The Type 01 features a 24-inch OLED driver display alongside a seven-inch central touchscreen for key vehicle functions.
Connected navigation can incorporate route and charging planning, while over-the-air software updates are intended to allow Jaguar to introduce improvements and new functionality after the vehicle has been delivered.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included, along with a built-in 5G Wi-Fi hotspot.

Advanced Driver Assistance Technology
Jaguar has also equipped the Type 01 with an extensive collection of cameras and sensors.
The system incorporates 10 external cameras, five radar sensors and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
These support functions including a 3D surround-view system and ClearSight rear-view technology, helping the driver monitor the vehicle’s surroundings.
The underlying electrical architecture has also been developed around software-defined vehicle principles.
This means Jaguar can potentially update aspects of the vehicle’s software and functionality remotely rather than relying entirely on physical changes during servicing or production.

Practicality Has Not Been Forgotten
Despite its dramatic styling and performance focus, the Type 01 has been designed to provide useful everyday practicality.
The powered rear tailgate provides more than 450 litres of boot space, increasing to around 1,000 litres when the rear seats are folded.
That will not make the Type 01 a practical family SUV, but it does give the car useful luggage capacity for longer journeys.
For a four-seat GT aimed partly at business users, that balance between luxury, performance and usable storage is likely to be important.
What Does The Jaguar Type 01 Mean For Company-Car Drivers?
The Type 01 is particularly interesting from a company-car perspective because of its combination of electric range, performance and premium positioning.
As a fully electric vehicle, the Type 01 will be subject to the company-car Benefit-in-Kind rules applicable when it becomes available, with the 2026/27 rate for zero-emission cars currently set at 4%.
The car’s eventual list price will be important when assessing the overall tax position, particularly because Jaguar is targeting the upper end of the luxury car market. For businesses reviewing their executive fleet requirements, business car leasing can provide an alternative to purchasing vehicles outright while helping companies plan their vehicle costs over an agreed contract period.
Pricing has not yet been officially confirmed, although estimates currently put the Type 01 at around £120,000.
For businesses operating executive fleets, the Type 01 could therefore become an option for senior employees looking for a high-end electric vehicle without compromising on long-distance capability. Businesses running mixed fleets can also benefit from having their car and commercial vehicle requirements managed through a one-stop fleet solution.
The continued expansion of the electric-car market is also giving businesses more choice when considering their next company vehicles.
The wider JLR range is also moving in the same direction, with the Range Rover Electric bringing battery-electric power into the manufacturer’s luxury SUV line-up.

When Will The Jaguar Type 01 Be Available?
Jaguar is expected to open orders for the Type 01 in early 2027.
First customer deliveries are currently expected during the second half of 2027.
That means the Type 01 remains some way from becoming a familiar sight on UK roads, but the official production reveal provides a much clearer indication of what Jaguar’s new electric flagship will offer.
For readers who have followed the car’s development, our previous Jaguar Type 01 coverage provides further background on how the model has evolved towards production.
The model is also important beyond its individual specifications. It is the first production Jaguar based on the company’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture and therefore provides an indication of the technology and philosophy that will underpin the next generation of Jaguar vehicles.
