It has been announced that Chinese company SAIC will no longer trade under LDV's name, with its products now branded MAXUS in the UK. Maxus is introducing the first fully electric panel van in the Maxus eDeliver series, the Maxus eDeliver 3.
It was originally called the LDV EV30, but the rebranding exercise led to the decision to call it a brand-new name. The van was shown in pre-production form at the Commercial Vehicle show in Birmingham. The Nissan e-NV200 has been dominating the EV van market for the past decade. This van follows in its footsteps by using the latest battery technology to give users the finest EV van experience when it comes to range and charging.

There are two van sizes (SWB and LWB) as well as a chassis cab option. Within each van, there are two battery choices: a 35kwh pack or a 52.5kwh unit. If you choose the larger one and the SWB van, you'll benefit from an official range of 213 miles (WLTP). Although the real-world range will be significantly smaller, especially when carrying a load, it nonetheless illustrates that the days of a 60-mile electric van range from some competitors are probably numbered.
With a conventional wall charger, the charging times are 6 and 8 hours respectively for the two battery sizes, and a 45-minute boost brings the capacity up from zero to 80% in about an hour.
However, even with the weight of the batteries and the drive train, MAXUS still offers an excellent payload of up to 1020kg, which is higher than some diesel-powered vans of similar size. It also has really good cargo space, with the LWB version offering a cargo volume of 6.3 cubic meters and a load length of 3285 mm. If you intend to tow, a trailer with a weight of 500kg is allowed by the manufacturer.
Although the interior of the cab is probably more functional and practical than that offered by some of its competitors, it's not lacking in specification and technology. In addition to the 8-inch touchscreen, a reversing camera and parking sensors are included to assist with manoeuvrability in tight urban areas and prevent vehicles from being damaged. Electric windows and electrically adjustable door mirrors complete the package, as does air conditioning.
There are several lashing rings and eyebolts and a non-slip floor covering in the load area. A 180-degree opening, a 60/40 split rear door, and a side loading door provide easy access.
