Refrigerated Van Buyer’s Guide

12 March 2019

If you need a chiller or freezer van to transport your goods, then we have a range of refrigerated vans on offer. All of our refrigerated van leasing deals are bespoke and as such we quote these vehicles individually on each occasion.

The latest food safety legislation dictates that all food suppliers need to maintain both raw and cooked foods at less than 8°C, while frozen foods need to be kept at -18°C. These temperatures apply when loading and delivering. The type of refrigeration system your van requires will be largely based on the daily requirements of your business regarding product; temperature, number of operational hours in a working day, the number of drops in a working day, the frequency of drops etc.

Depending on the needs of your business, it might be the case that you require more than one vehicle for several different loads.

Although this is an option, we are also equipped to carry out a conversion that allows a single van to have a dual chiller and freezer compartment.

Commercial Vehicle Contracts offer a wide range of enhancements and accessories, which are tailored to meet your needs. We pride ourselves on being able to cater to a broad array of sectors and industries, with the majority of our clients operating in the food service industry delivering fresh, chilled or frozen products. Therefore, if you are in the business of delivering flowers, ready meals, ice cream, fish, meat or pharmaceuticals, then we can convert a van that meets all your requirements.

‘Wet Load’ or ‘Slip Resistant’ floors

By keeping the floor of the van free of excess moisture and other hazards, we can prioritise both operator safety and load stability.

Standby Capability

The standby capability feature allows you to plug your van into a mains electricity supply, letting you refrigerate your goods for an extended period even when the engine’s off.

It also lets you bring your van’s interior down to the right temperature before loading it up.

Extra Shelving Or Racking

Not only does installing racking or shelving ensure that your van is well organised and looks professional on the job, it also keeps your load secure while on the move.

Strip Curtains and Partitions

This is to maintain the van’s interior temperature when loading or unloading.
