Chassis Conversions

What is chassis conversion/modification?

Sometimes buyers need a tailor-made solution commercial van lease for their business needs. That's where the van conversion market comes into play. Conversions take basic vans and fit them out with bespoke kits to make them suitable for all sorts of jobs. From a refrigerated vehicle lease, to adding shelving and racking, you can opt to modify your chosen van when leasing a business vehicle or a fleet with Commercial Vehicle Contracts.

What types of chassis conversions are available?

Chassis conversions can come in many shapes and forms. The most common are:

  1. tail lift
  2. tipper / tipper cage
  3. dropside
  4. Luton
  5. curtainside
  6. box body
  7. low-floor Luton (loloader)
  8. flatbed
  9. refrigerated
  10. camper van
  11. crew van

Where can I convert/modify my commercial vehicle?

We have recommended conversion companies that deal with us directly, meaning the van conversion will be approved by the manufacturer, and the van's existing warranty should remain intact. This also means if you lease a van with Commercial Vehicle Contracts and want to add a tow bar, or tail-lift, we can sort this for you so the vehicle is delivered and ready to go.

A professional conversion will need to be type-approved before it's allowed on the road too. In the case of manufacturer-sourced conversions, these will be type-approved in bulk so that they can be sold straight to buyers (like some Luton vans and dropside options).

If you are carrying out a niche conversion, then you will need to go through Individual Type Approval. This requires your vehicle to be inspected and approved on an individual basis by the UK Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA).
